The best keto mayonnaise products found in-store and online
Mayonnaise is one of the best foods to have on the keto diet. It is one giant high-quality fat bomb. It goes with so many foods and is great at helping you get enough healthy fats in your diet.
If you have the time, you can make your own mayonnaise, it only requires a few simple ingredients (plus a blender) and tastes so much better than store-bought versions. A great recipe to get you started is from Diet Doctor. If you’ve never made your own mayonnaise before then you’re in for a treat and don’t worry if it looks a bit yellow that is expected!
On the other hand, if you want to pick up an already made mayonnaise, then there are so many to choose from. Ideally, you want to ignore the low-fat versions as they tend to replace the fat with sugar. So expect them to be higher in carbs. However, I do occasionally buy it, as it has about half the calories so it’s good when I’m reducing my caloric intake. I just have to be careful to keep the rest of my carb intake low.
Types of keto mayonnaise
There are multiple varieties of Mayo. Some use different oils, others add flavours. Most are find for a keto diet but some do have a lot of added sugar so always check the carb count and aim for no more than 8g per 100g. I recommend that proportion as a guide, as you normally won’t have more than 100g per serving as it’s quite filling!
Traditional
Hellmann’s is the leading brand of mayonnaise in the UK. They have a wide range and are available in (almost) all supermarkets. Their staple product the “Real Mayonnaise” is one of the lowest carb mayos on the market and is usually on offer. For most people, I recommend just picking that up when you can. Store own brand Mayo is usually fine, so great if you’re shopping on a budget.

Avocado
The ultimate keto mayonnaise. Made with avocado oil, instead of regular oils such as Olive, Rapeseed and Sunflower. It’s becoming increasingly more popular in the UK. Even some of the bigger brands are starting to come out with their own versions. However, it’s typically more expensive but usually has better quality ingredients and less artificial/added bits.
Taste wise, it’s great and not all that different than traditional mayonnaise. It’s usually better to buy online as not many stores stock it.

Flavoured
The holy grail of flavoured keto mayonnaise is Baconnaise. I buy it in bulk and have it as a side with most meat and vegetables. I love it. It’s a little high in carbs, but you don’t need much as it’s very filling. It’s a bit difficult to find in most stores and they usually sell it in tiny bottles at a marked up cost. However, I’ve found that Iceland (mainly their Food Warehouse) stores stock 880g bottles at a very good price.
Speciality
Time for something a bit different. Ever head of Kewpie mayonnaise? It’s Japan’s version of Mayo. It’s richer, smoother and creamier than traditional Mayo and it’s made with rice vinegar rather than distilled vinegar. Give it try, you won’t regret it!

Flavour Ideas
You can make your own flavoured keto mayonnaise quite easily by blending ingredients together. I like to make Sriracha Mayo, it has a nice kick and goes great with chicken. All you need to do is add Sriracha, Mayo and a bit sweetener together until you get the perfect mix of flavours.
What other combinations of flavours could you make? Best get experimenting!
Only the avocado oil one looks good. The rest have crappy seed oils
