Handy keto resources for the UK and beyond
Most of the resources you see on the internet about keto are usually US-centric. For the most part that is fine for us UK based people, the only confusing bit is around how carbs are calculated.
In the US, the total carbs listed on the label includes dietary fibre. This means that they have to subtract the fibre from the total in order to get the actual net carbs. In contrast, the UK (and most other countries) list fibre under its own section, so the carb amount is the actual value.
Keto for a UK audience
Besides from the nutritional information, most of the other wealth of keto resources on the internet is country agnostic. However, there may be times where you would like to hear from like-minded countrymen on their keto journey.
Luckily, there are quite a few keto UK resources already out there, let’s take a closer look at some.
Reddit – Keto UK
If you’ve never been on Reddit before its a network of communities based on people’s interests. People are free to create their own subreddits which are focused on a particular interest like keto in the UK!
The r/ketouk subreddit has been going since June 2012 and has over 13,000 users. Community members are free to post and comment on anything keto-related including images, videos, text and anything in between.
If you have a question about something keto-related or want to share some keto-friendly product you found in the local supermarket, then this is the place to do it!

Facebook – Keto UK Community
If you still use Facebook, then you can join this group to discuss and comment on anything keto. It currently has over 55,000 members and has been around for over 4 years.

YouTube UK
There are a few UK based Youtubers that upload videos about keto but only a very small amount that do it consistently. One of the best channels is Ginger’s Keto In The UK, check them out here.

For everything else keto-related that is not UK centric, there are so many websites that offer great advice and a wealth of resources. I’ve listed some of my favourite places to visit below (in no particular order).
Keto Recipes
Unsurprisingly, keto has a lot to do with food! Most of the common mainstream foods are not keto-friendly so you may (will) end up making your own. There are literally thousands of sites that offer low carb keto safe recipes.

One of the easiest ways to consume information is via video. There are some great YouTube channels that are dedicated to keto and provide everything from recipes, tips & tricks to even shopping hauls. Some of my favourites include:

/r/keto_food – users log meals for accountability and also share recipes. Over 90,000 users.
/r/ketogains – community for optimizing health and body recomposition through keto and fitness. Over 190,000 users.
/r/KetoMealPrep – all things related to and involving low carb/keto meal prep. Over 27,000 users.
/r/Ketomealseatingnow – users post pictures of what keto-friendly meals they are eating. Over 10,000 users.
/r/ketorecipes – users share only keto-friendly recipes. Over 480,000 users.
/r/ketouk – users based in the UK share anything keto related. Over 13,000 users.
Prefer using Instagram as your social media app of choice? Luckily, there are plenty of users on the platform. Some of my favourites are listed below.
